I’ve been reading about FrogWatch USA, and would like to try participating next spring. Here’s is an introductory description from the FrogWatch Web site:

FrogWatch USA is AZA’s flagship citizen science program that allows individuals and families to learn about the wetlands in their communities and help conserve amphibians by reporting the calls of local frogs and toads.

What’s not for me to love about FrogWatch? Citizen science, amphibians, the Internet… it’s a perfect storm of Stuff Dave Loves. Alarming drops in the health of amphibian populations around the globe have concerned scientists and citizens alike. I’m encouraged by cooperative efforts like this as a way of gathering data to help address the crisis, assess causes, and strategize solutions.

Plus any excuse to get outdoors and pay attention to frogs is a project I can get behind!
